About Me

"I usually claim that pregnant women should not read books about pregnancy and birth.  Their time is too precious. They should, rather, watch the moon and sing to their baby in the womb."

Michel Odent

Connecticut Midwife Kara Crawford

As a birth worker and a holder of sacred womb space, I am passionate about supporting families through the childbearing years. My wisdom comes not only from my education, it is rooted in the fact that I am a mama to three wonderful humans and a lover of all things wild and free.

My journey as a sacred birthholder began when I became a mother in 1992 for the first time. This experience was my initiation without me even knowing it at the time. Soon after I heard the call of "With Woman." This calling became so loud I had no choice but to listen. This deep, intentional listening led me to dive deep into self-study of birth, plant wisdom, homeopathic remedies, and ways to help children heal naturally. There is a profound beauty in honoring the mystery and unknown of the womb space. I believe in the body's innate ability to heal and self-regulate. I am here to help you navigate this before, during, and after your pregnancy.

I recharge by exploring the woods with my dogs and practicing yoga. I am also deeply drawn to wildcrafting plants to make medicine with, which complements my work and passions.

I invite you to explore my website to see what I offer. If you have any questions about midwifery or other services, please feel free to get in touch. I am here to support you every step of the way, offering holistic midwife services that nurture your family, your baby, and you.

With love,

Kara
